Kinloch was a thriving community that dropped down to a population of 272 in 2017. This short touches on its history and how former residents continue to fight for its revival with dedication and a little bit of basketball.
We [Chance Athletics] were first introduced to Kinloch through our basketball collaboration with Project Backboard. Project Backboardand Keri Gilyard, former Kinloch resident, led a basketball court renovation in 2017 that was adorned with a mural by artist William LaChance. Our collaboration was inspired by this renovation and so the basketball was wrapped with the artwork from the court. This story was important for us to tell because it shows the impact that art and basketball has in bringing people together, which ties into our own mission seamlessly.
